Install tip! – Over time the contact piece that the Button hits when pushed in has been bent “inward”. To remedy this you’ll have to bend it closer to the button. With that being said, be sure to study how the retainer works so if you have to remove it you have a game plan so you don’t destroy the button trying to remove it. The retainer is held in with some spring metal “tabs”. These tabs need to be pushed in for the bottom to come out without harming it or the chrome finish. This can usually be done with a thin piece of metal that resembles a butter knife. Come in from the side, push the retainer tabs in and the button will then come out. Another easy remedy is to remove the screw that the button pushes and replace it with a screw that is a tad longer. These are typically just a plain #8 Machine Screw. So all in all, there are 2 ways to help these contact the release mechanism properly. I’ve uploaded a couple photos of the #8 Screw and the Retainer Tabs. If you have any questions give me a call.
