Reproduction Tach Harness to Ignition Coil Harness used on 1970 GS & GSX – Factory Grommet also included!

This wire runs from the inside of the firewall (Factory Junction in Dash Harness) to the Ignition Coil.  The Black end plugs into the remainder of the wiring in your Factory Dash Harness. (Typically used on 1970 GS/GSX)

This Factory Hole is “Kitty Corner” of the Fuse Block hole and typically only found on actual GS Cars.

The Assembly Manual lists this hole as being 1.250″ in diameter.

 

 

The Following Photos show the Factory Hood Tach & In Dash Tach Harness typically found in the 1970 GS & GSX Models that is built into the Dash Harness. If you have a Skylark or a 1971/72 GS/GSX you will NOT have this wiring and may want to purchase our other Tach Harness when adding an “In Dash Tach”.

Hood Tach Repair Harness

Hood Tach Repair Harness

Use this harness to repair or freshen up your GSX Hood Tach Harness.

This is a 36″ section of Factory Wiring that you can splice in to repair or freshen up your existing harness.

Also included is a 20″ section that is used along with the Ignition Coil Wire. (includes the Factory Weather Proof Junction Plug)

This will also work well for someone using an Aftermarket Hood Tach that wants the correct colored wires.

The 3 wires are Black, Grey and Brown and utilizes the factory connector as used by Buick.

  • Brown Wire going from the Back of the Tach to the Coil. (Marked with an “S” on the back of the Tach) This is your “Signal” Wire.
  • Red Wire going from the Back of the Tach to a Keyed 12 Volt Power Source. (Marked with an “+” on the back of the Tach)
  • Be sure to ground the housing also!

Tach Harness for “In Dash Tach”

This Wire Harness is designed to hook up our Aftermarket “In Dash Tach’s”.

If you’re adding one of our TPP” Dash Tach’s to your Skylark this is the Harness you want!

This may also be the desired Harness for the 1970 – 72 GS & GSX cars if you do not have or wish to use the Factory Tach Wiring.

 

 

Brown Wire plugs into the “S” terminal on the back side of the Tach and travels through the Firewall and connects to the Ignition Coil.

Red Wire plugs into the “+” terminal on the back side of the Tach and is connected to a 12 Volt “Keyed” power supply.

The Tach Housing should be grounded also!

  3. Ground the Housing also to insure the lights work!

Please Note that a Factory 1970 GS or GSX already has SOME of the wiring needed.

A Skylark and some 1971/72 GS/GSX Models will need ALL the wiring to hook up correctly.
